The goal with our blog will be simple: provide insights to help promote the well-being of our industry, customers, partners and team while shining a light on what makes Leahy-IFP so special at the end of the day – our people and the culture we create.

As we do across our departments on a daily basis, our blog will take information and turn it into insights that are relevant, timely and accurate. With the vast amount of information we all have at our fingertips and the speed at which we get it, the question of “What do we do with all this?” is a real challenge. We’ll strive to provide real value on a regular basis, starting by sharing thoughts monthly, letting Leahy-IFP’s subject matter experts share their knowledge on the state of the industry today, but equally as important, where the industry is headed and how we can help navigate those changes.
A Culture of Growing Innovative Solutions
Our path has not been a straight line. Our evolution from a broker to a brand owner (and eventual manufacturer) created a foundation of innovation by introducing a product-driven solution that did not exist before. With the introduction of Carbotrol® Fruit, we changed the way healthcare providers and dieticians cared for people by introducing juice packed fruit to the foodservice market. Being first was not enough, though.

Our founders William and Tim Leahy worked with California and Northwest United States growers to put the highest quality fruit available into our cans, specing the highest grade fruit possible, pioneering “Density Pack” – putting more fruit in our cans than anyone else – and ensuring our product was markedly different from all the rest. While juice packed fruit has been copied, we are proud to maintain a rigorous spec that still produces the highest quality product available in the market. Operators loved that they no longer had to dual stock (water AND syrup packed) to meet dietary needs of their residents, while getting better quality fruit and with increased drain weights.
Creating a More Fruitful Life for Everyone
That spirit is one that allowed growth into offering a variety of brands across multiple categories. It’s what allowed us to be first to market in aseptic processed juice with Orchard Splash™ in carton and Bag N Box formats, as well as texture modified solutions like FruitBlendz™ Fruit Purees, all the while expanding our healthcare offering to include sugar free options like Dunn’s Farm syrup and Carbotrol® Plus puddings and gelatins and Nutrassist™ Thickened Beverages. We later would work to grow Powell & Mahoney™ Craft Cocktail Mixers into one of the most unique cocktail mixer lines in the market, offering glass bottles suited for retail, aseptic cartons suited for foodservice and carbonated cans well positioned for both.
While continuing to grow our own brands, Leahy-IFP has become a sought after innovation partner, working with some of the globe’s largest brand owners, foodservice operators and taste makers to develop and deliver products enjoyed every day by consumers across the US and Canada. We’re proud to have become a world class co-packing partner and boutique commercialization operation, because it’s allowed us to stretch our wings and operate at the cutting edge of progress, something deeply embedded in our culture. We’ve gone far beyond being a sales and marketing company, adding R&D, Project Management, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Marketing, Package & Label Design, Logistics, Quality Assurance and Procurement divisions along the way. And with a growth mindset, who knows what could be next? The greatest thing about our culture is that we continue to grow, change, expand and demand a mindset from our people to do the same.
